You Can Talk to Me About Your Mental Health is the first edition in the Conversations That Matter card deck series.

It was created to help people make conversations about mental health a regular part of how we connect with one another - not just something we talk about when things fall apart.

What this deck is

Each card offers a thoughtfully written prompt designed to open space for honest conversation about mental health — without fixing, forcing, or giving advice. Because most of the time, people don’t need solutions. They need to be listened to, believed, and met with care.

The deck also includes clear guidance on how to use the cards with consent, intention, and emotional safety.

It’s a practical tool for connection designed to help people show up for one another with care, before things pile up.

This deck is not a replacement for therapy or crisis support.

What’s inside

40 thoughtfully designed conversation prompt cards

clear guidance on how to use the deck with care and consent

the conversations that matter framework for gathering people and creating space for meaningful conversation

Bringing people together

A core belief behind Conversations That Matter is that hard conversations feel easier when we’re gathered around food made with love and care.

You don’t need Frankie D’s donuts to use this deck, but you are invited to bring food into the moment.

Sharing food helps people slow down, soften, and stay.

It turns conversation into connection.

Where and how it’s used

This deck can be used:

one-on-one as a tool for self connection

in small groups

at home with friends or family

in workplaces and team settings

in community spaces and gatherings

Some people use it as a regular check-in. Others reach for it when something feels tender, hard to name or they're feeling disconnected from themselves or others.

This deck is for

friends and family who want to support without fixing

people who want mental health conversations to feel more natural

peer supporters, listeners, and advocates

teams and workplaces building cultures of care

anyone who’s ever thought, “I want to have a deeper connection with you and know how to care better"

Why we created it

Created by Frankie D’s Donuts, a social enterprise founded in the mountains near Banff, Canada.

This deck is inspired by lived experience with mental illness and trauma, and by years of hosting Donuts & Conversation gatherings where we’ve witnessed what happens when people are given real permission to say what’s going on and talk about the things they've been avoiding.

Profits from this deck help fund community peer-support spaces and mental health initiatives.
